Boathouse x J. Press: Two American Brands Combine in a Timeless Athletic Collection

The new Boathouse x J. Press collaboration is where USA-made athletic performance gear meets refined American style. Two storied American pedigrees—one founded in 1976, the other in 1902—have combined to create new classic garments for today’s athletes.

An American-Made Collection for All Athletes

Blending J. Press heritage with Boathouse performance, the Boathouse x J. Press collection is filled with staples for athletes looking to elevate their aesthetics. A combination of classic style and modern design, these pieces are the definition of timeless—no matter how tough you are on them.

Jackets in Classic Styles

It wouldn’t be a Boathouse offering without a Stevenson jacket somewhere—and in this collection, we’ve got two: one in white, and one in navy. Also available are a rich red Supplex Regatta Jacket and a refined navy Supplex Coaches Jacket.

A Winning Vest-and-Pant Combo

Perfect for athletes, performers, and supporters alike, the Softshell Equinox Vest features both white and navy panels with red accents and sturdy-yet-lightweight materials. When paired with the navy Quadstretch-woven Journey Pant, it makes a sleek combo great for outdoor physical activity.

Refined Rugby Essentials

Here at Boathouse, we already have quite a few women’s and men’s rugby clothing under our belts. We thought we’d add to that with a few essentials infused with J. Press style. Featured in this collection is a classic red-and-navy-blue striped and collared Rugby Shirt, as well as stretchy yet sturdy Rugby Shorts in both navy blue and off-white.

Press to bring you a list of must-have basics, including a grey 100% Cotton Hoody, a navy 100% Cotton Long-Sleeve Tee, and a white 100% Cotton Short-Sleeve Tee with a screen-printed graphic of this collab on the front. Also available is a Supplex Bucket Hat in your choice of navy or off-white.

J. Press: The Finest in American Clothing for Over a Century

With a rich history dating back to the turn of the twentieth century, J. Press has long been the embodiment of classic American style. Based in New Haven, Connecticut, from the very beginning, the brand quickly became synonymous with class and refinement through timeless designs, superior quality, and no shortage of twill.

By the 1920s and ‘30s, J. Press had the outfitter of choice for many working professionals, R.O.T.C programs, and university athletic teams across the eastern United States. You’ll find the brand referenced in the writings of the time from songwriter Cole Porter to novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald.

It was this auspicious start that soon became a legacy, continuing through the rest of the twentieth century to today. From the hallowed halls of Ivy League universities to the bustling streets of New York, the J. Press brand has been the standard-bearer of a distinctively refined aesthetic that speaks to both heritage and class.

Boathouse: USA Olympian-Founded Athletic Essentials, Since 1976

A veritable newcomer to the world of apparel compared to J. Press, our team at Boathouse got our beginnings in 1976—when we debuted the iconic Stevenson jacket (with its technically designed shoulder gusset to allow full arm rotation) at the Montreal Olympic Games. Olympic rower John Strotbeck saw an opportunity to bring Stevenson jackets to athletes everywhere, founding our Philadelphia, PA, factory that same year.

Today, nearly 50 years later, we’ve expanded our American-made clothing offering to include an extensive range of athletic essentials—from uniforms for college athletes to performance outerwear for outdoor adventurers in all climates.

Though we’ve grown, there are some things we’ve never changed: our ownership of the entire manufacturing process and our unwavering commitment to hand-crafted American quality.
